International Green Building Conference 2012
10 Oct – 12 Oct 2012
Venue: Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

Being the leader of Green Building Hub in Singapore, Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) is pleased to announce that the region’s premier International Green Building Conference 2012 (IGBC 2012) will be held on 10-12 Oct 2012 in Marina Bay Sands with the support of Strategic Partners – the Building and Construction Authority and International Enterprise Singapore. It will be held alongside the annual BEX ASIA 2012, an exhibition of green construction and building products and services.
The IGBC 2012 will be focusing on the twin themes of importance Green Leadership and Green Community. Leadership demonstrated by the government and the industry (championed by developers, building owners and green consultants) had created the impetus for rapid green building development in many countries. But the engagement of the community –the building tenants, home owners and consumers – is equally critical. It will be the platform for discussing strategies and policies that will help to harness the tremendous potential of the Green Community to take the green building movement to the next level.

Dear SGBC Members,
The Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) will be celebrating its 2nd Anniversary on 15 September 2011 at Marina Mandarin Hotel. We will be hosting a formal dinner to commemorate this grand occasion with a pre-dinner cocktail reception at 6:30pm. Our theme for the evening would be “Unity in Green”.
We are proud of our accomplishments, so far. We have expanded our membership base to 318 and elevated the Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP) Certification Scheme in the realm of Building and Construction Industry. Last year, the Inaugural Singapore Green Building International Conference and WorldGBC International Congress attracted approximately 700 participants to share their expertise and knowledge of Green Technology. In addition, SGBC has also been invited to co-chair the prestigious World GBC Asia Pacific Networking and Tropical and Subtropical Green Building Councils Alliance Symposium. This year, we are participating together with our supportive members in the upcoming BEX ASIA 2011 on 14-16 Sept.
To mark our coming of age, we will be presenting awards to our deserving members, as well as companies with green products certified by SGBC, for their efforts in working alongside us to propel Singapore’s building and construction industry towards environmental sustainability.
Our Guest-of-Honor will arrive at 7.30 pm and the evening programme of awards presentation and live entertainment will commence. A nine course dinner will be served at 8.30pm. The dress code is formal with a touch of green.
Your presence and support will definitely enhance the significance and prestige of the occasion. We would be grateful if you could confirm your attendance by 1 September 2011, using the attached reply form and send it to us via fax or email (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)).
To make your evening extra meaningful, please consider booking our Gold Sponsor tables which come with many special entitlements (please see attached reply form).
We look forward to your presence on 15 September 2011!

The Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) signed separate Memorandums of Understanding with Housing & Development Board Building Research Institute (HDB-BRI), JTC Corporation (JTC), and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF). Themed “Unity in Green”, these will drive closer collaboration between SGBC and each of these parties to promote green building practices and technologies as well as the Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP) certification scheme.
An MOU was also signed by SGBC with the Beijing Construction Decoration Association (BCDA) to promote the development of Green Buildings in Beijing.
“The Green Building movement is gathering pace in the face of greater challenges of climate change and resource efficiency. SGBC’s green product certification is a logical step to support the movement and is gathering momentum with increasing recognition from the building industry,” said Mr Tai Lee Siang, President, SGBC.
“The signing of MOUs with HDB-BRI, JTC and SBF signifies strong support from major local industry players on collaboration for activities and most importantly support for our green product certification efforts. The signing of the MOU with BCDA, Beijing, marks a first-of-its-kind collaboration for SGBC with a foreign association. Such spirit of collaboration will further strengthen our ties and also provide a useful platform for Singapore companies to engage the growing markets of Asia,” he added.
“HDB-BRI fully supports the green building movement and is happy to collaborate with building industry players like the SGBC. The sharing of green product certification schemes and green practices would benefit both parties. With this MOU, we are strengthening common research and development activities to create a better green built environment for all.” commented by HDB-BRI Managing Director Er Lau Joo Ming.
Mr David Tan Tin Liung, Assistant Chief Executive Officer (TPG) of JTC Corporation commented, “JTC understands the importance of ensuring a sustainable and competitive industrial landscape, and will continue to explore innovative ideas in our strive towards developing environmentally-sustainable industrial infrastructure solutions. With this MOU, we look forward to working closely with the SGBC in our pursuit to break new ground in industrial green practices and technologies.”
Mr Victor Tay, Chief Operating Officer, Singapore Business Federation added that this MOU between SGBC and SBF will further expand our existing collaboration. SBF, as the apex business chamber, will work with SGBC to target emerging opportunities especially in the areas of sustainable urban development and building of eco-cities by promoting greater adoption and commercialization of related initiatives and solutions amongst Singapore companies.”
SGBC is pleased to partner with the mentioned Organization in making the Industry a Greener Future. This desirous of collaborating in research and development activities with the view to promoting green building designs, practices and technologies, integrating green building initiatives into mainstream design, construction and operation of buildings as well as building capability and professionalism to support wider adoption of green building development and practices in Singapore and overseas.
With this collaboration; it assists in rising trend and concern for sustainable building that we strive to work hand-in-hand with key industry partners and stakeholders to deliver a platform that caters to this need, combining a selling market with key content for professional knowledge and education.
