The Singapore Green Building Council was honoured to co-host a Go 25 event on 20 Aug. 2025 along with the City Green Tenant Bonus Programme Awards Ceremonyย at Republic Plaza alongside our Founding Member City Developments Limited (CDL). The event celebrated the commendable achievements of CDLโs tenants in advancing energy efficiency and sustainability within their premises.
SGBC recognises the critical role of collective action in decarbonising Singaporeโs built environment. The steadfast commitment demonstrated by these tenants provides a powerful model for the industry, directly supporting national sustainability goals.
The event drew a bead on the nationalย Go 25 movement, co-led by SGBC and the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, Singapore and the Environment, and supported by the Building and Construction Authority and the National Environment Agency. The movement calls for indoor temperatures to be set at or close to 25ยฐC – the optimal balance between occupant comfort and significant energy conservation. Adjusting temperatures upwards by just 1ยฐC can reduce cooling energy consumption by up to 12% in an office setting, yielding substantial cost savings and carbon emission reductions.
SGBC also took the opportunity to reiterate that theย Green Mark for Interiors (GMI)ย certification scheme will come into effect from 1 November 2025. Developed in collaboration with BCA, this refreshed space-centric scheme will provide businesses with a robust framework to design, fit-out, and operate their spaces in an eco-conscious manner, future-proofing their operations and enhancing occupant wellbeing.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Mr. Alvin Tan, Minister of State for the Ministry of National Development, for gracing the event. We also acknowledge CDL for their foundational and continued partnership since SGBCโs inception in 2009.
SGBC heartily congratulates all recipients of the City Green Tenant Bonus Programme and remains dedicated to working with all stakeholders to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable, resilient, and healthy built environment for Singapore.
