Built Environment Decarbonisation Technology Draft Roadmap

The Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC), in partnership with the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), is developing a Built Environment Decarbonisation Technology Roadmap to guide industry stakeholders in identifying key future-ready solutions and strategies to reduce whole life carbon emissions in building projects. This initiative is crucial in ensuring that Singapore’s built environment and its firms are prepared for a low-carbon future, building upon existing efforts to drive lifecycle thinking and material carbon transparency in the building sector.

Through a collaborative road mapping effort, more than 50 key technologies and strategies (existing and emerging) have been identified to help building owners decarbonise their building portfolios. This roadmap aims to serve as a strategic guide for our collective journey towards a sustainable and low-carbon built environment.

The draft roadmap currently identifies more than 50 technologies and strategies crucial for decarbonising buildings. A public consultation exercise was held from 11 July 2025 to 11 August 2025 to gather suggestions on any other impactful technologies or innovative solutions that are currently not covered in the roadmap.

The full roadmap is expected to be officially launched in Q1 2026.
