Go 25 - Make Comfort Sustainable

In Singapore’s tropical climate, overcooling is common – but it comes at a cost: discomfort, higher energy use and additional utility costs. It also accelerates climate change and exacerbates the urban heat island effect. This creates a vicious feedback cycle: hotter cities demand more cooling, which generates more emissions and heat, thus further raising ambient temperatures. As such, we all have a part to play to reduce overcooling and ensure long-term sustainable comfort.

The Go 25 movement, encourages all Singapore residents to adopt optimal cooling practices, starting with setting indoor temperatures to at least 25°C in their homes, offices, and buildings. It’s more than just a number; it is the sweet spot for comfort and sustainability, and a call to action for all of us to pave the way in creating smarter, more sustainable Singapore.

A national initiative by the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) and the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE), supported by the National Environment Agency (NEA), and the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), Go 25 is part of Go Green SG and is a key effort to advance sustainable cooling behaviors in Singapore.

Lead the Shift to 25°C
Join a growing community of organisations committed to embodying the Go 25 spirit of sustainable comfort. Whether you manage a building or workspace, your pledge is a signal of leadership in sustainability — and a practical step toward a smarter, more comfortable future.

By pledging, you commit to:

  • Go 25 in spaces under your direct operational control (set thermostats to at least 25°C, or as close as possible).
  • Encourage your stakeholders to do the same by supporting alternative cooling options like fans or permitting lighter workplace attire where appropriate.
  • Display indoor temperature clearly on premises to raise awareness and foster shared accountability.
