The Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) concluded the second 2025 run of its two-part sustainable finance series with the industry course, “Accessing Green and Sustainable Finance with Green Building Certifications” on 10 October 2025. Held as a complementary session to the earlier course, “Tapping into Green and Sustainable Finance for Decarbonisation Action” held on 3 October 2025, the course series equipped participants with practical knowledge to navigate the growing sustainable finance landscape.
Attendees gained valuable insights into the evolving ecosystem of sustainable finance taxonomies, green building certifications, and the critical role of second-party opinion providers. Through detailed case studies, course instructor Mr. Kelvin Teo demonstrated actionable strategies for building and project owners to access green and transition finance, particularly for existing brown assets. The session emphasised aligning certification pathways, such as those offered under the Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP) certification framework, with both financial mechanisms and regulatory requirements.
The course also featured a special segment by representatives from the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS), who introduced DigiLeap — a digital sustainability marketplace designed to connect projects, solutions, and partners across Singapore and ASEAN. This platform aims to accelerate sustainable growth by facilitating collaboration and enabling more efficient access to green financing opportunities.
SGBC extends its appreciation to the instructor, partners, and all participants for their active engagement. Equipping the built environment sector with the tools to secure green and sustainable finance remains a key priority in advancing Singapore’s decarbonisation goals.
