How can Germany and Singapore work together to accelerate the transition toward more sustainable and energy-efficient buildings?

On 5 May 2026, the Singapore Green Building Council was pleased to participate in a dynamic exchange hosted by the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce / AHK Singapur. The symposium brought together a diverse group of experts, industry players, and solution providers from both nations to discuss the future of energy efficiency, renewables, and green buildings.

The session highlighted innovative approaches to enhancing energy performance in the built environment, serving as a vital platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange between our two markets.

The programme commenced with opening remarks from Dr. Tim Philippi, Executive Director of AHK Singapur, and a greeting from Mr. Thomas Motak, Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy Singapore.

We gained valuable international perspectives from Ms. Beatrice Schulz of the BVES Energy Storage Systems Association, who shared developments in Germany’s renewables and energy storage sectors. Representing the local landscape, Mr. Vincent Low from the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS) discussed our regional energy efficiency ecosystem, while SGBC Board Member, Mr. Kew Yuan Chun, highlighted Singapore’s green building ambitions and our ongoing journey toward a more sustainable built environment.

We look forward to more cross-border collaborations as we continue to drive green building excellence.
