Sustainability considerations have become key requirements in design and construction, driving radical innovation in materials and production processes. Central to evaluating building products is their carbon footprint, quantified through Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). EPDs provide a standardized way to assess and compare the environmental performance of materials across their lifecycle.
SGBC successfully completed the second run of the SGBC Industry Course on EPD Literacy on 15 May 2025. Participants from across the built environment value chain gained a clear understanding of EPDs, including their structure, content, methodology, and preparation. They also addressed concerns surrounding EPDs and the built environment’s carbon footprint.ย
