The year’s first run of the SGBC Industry Course: Hands-On Training with the Building Embodied Carbon Calculator was held on 12 March 2026 at the Singapore Sustainability Academy Annex (SSAA) to a full class of nearly 30 industry professionals.
During this practical workshop, attendees explored how to:
– Use BECC to quantify embodied carbon across key building materials and systems
– Interpret emissions hot spots to guide material selection and design decisions
– Apply lifecycle-based thinking to support low‑carbon project outcomes
– Strengthen project documentation for sustainability assessments and reporting
SGBC Member Climate Asia Pte Ltd also shared their insights into the common technical challenges of embodied carbon accounting, and helped our attendees explore real-world hurdles encountered during project delivery and proven mitigation strategies to help teams navigate the BECC tool and streamline Green Mark compliance.
