Green Building certifications play a pivotal role in in driving sustainability initiatives within the built environment and demonstrating performance standards. They serve as a key reference for investors seeking to align their portfolios with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles, as well as to unlock sustainable finance.
Delivered in collaboration with the U.S. Green Building Council, SGBC organised the second run of the LEED Essentials Course as a structured deep-dive into the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification to unpack the standardโs technical requirements as well as the value it brings to the built environment. As the worldโs most widely used green building rating system, LEED provides a framework for healthy, energy-efficient, and cost-saving green buildings, which offer environmental, social and governance benefits.
During the day-long course, participants got to better understand the core concepts and benefits of LEED certification, obtained a working overview of different LEED rating systems as well as found out how to apply LEED principles to various building projects.
The next edition of the SGBC Industry Course on LEED Essentials scheduled for early 2026 will unpack the latest LEED v5 standard in detail. More details will be made available in due course.
