Green buildings are more than just structures; they are living systems designed to optimise energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and environmental sustainability.
This afternoon, close to 40 Green Mark Professionals joined us on a SGBC Learning Journey to The GEAR, made possible by SGBC Founding Members Kajima and Singapore Polytechnic to explore the frontiers of smart buildings. Using The GEAR building as a case study, we delved into how these technologies can help create environments that adapt to occupant needs in real-time, enhancing comfort, efficiency, and overall wellbeing.
SGBC Green Mark Professionals visited the following facilities on The GEAR’s premises during the enlightening session:
✅ Construction Robotics Lab – conducts research of new construction methods with robots and used to test utilisation of drones at construction sites.
✅ Urban Space Creation Display – showcases research revolving around sustainable materials and advanced sensing technologies for building and infrastructure projects.
✅ Digital Tech Lab – conducts research for occupant wellbeing, energy efficiency, carbon neutralisation and smart facilities management using digital data and robotics.
✅ K/Park – a modular space that is naturally ventilated with flexible configurations for different conditions.
SGBC will continue to organise more visits to exemplary implementations of green building design and technology, powered by the expertise of our Membership community.
