On the 8th day of the new lunar year, SGBC celebrated the Year of the Horse with our annual SGBC Prosperity Toss gathering, bringing the SGBC community together for an afternoon of joy and festivity.
In his welcome address, SGBC President Mr. Allen Ang reflected that greening Singapore’s built environment is not a sprint but a long-distance marathon. With the recent launch of the Built Environment Decarbonisation Technology Roadmap, the sector has an ambitious blueprint. But roadmaps alone do not reduce carbon emissions: people do.
Therefore, his challenge to the SGBC community this Lunar New Year is to:
- Move with speed, stamina, and together
- When specifying materials, ask about carbon
- When designing, take a whole lifecycle approach
- On site, find one improvement for cleaner, quieter, greener operations
As almost 200 representatives from SGBC Corporate Member organisations tossed the yusheng, well wishes went beyond better business for the year and into courage to innovate, partnerships that go the distance, a greener skyline we can proudly build.
Here’s to another year of prosperity as we stride forward together as one SGBC community.
