SGBC is proud to be a signatory of the Global Pledge for Healthy Indoor Air.
Healthy indoor air is a vital element of sustainable buildings. At SGBC, our mission has always been to build sustainable cities for better living. Green buildings shouldn’t just be energy-efficient, they must also be people-centric.
We have been working on this long before signing today’s Pledge:
- Through the Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP) certification scheme – we’re driving the supply and adoption of certified green building materials – because people spend up to 90% of their time indoors, and the materials we choose directly impact the air they breathe.
- Through the Green Mark for Interiors (GMI) certification scheme – we’re providing a structured pathway for interior fit-outs to achieve sustainability and occupant wellbeing. GMI promotes healthier indoor environments through strategies targeting indoor environmental quality, energy efficiency, and low-emitting materials. Because green buildings are only as healthy as the interiors within them.
- Through national initiatives such as the Industry Guidelines for Indoor Air Quality – a first-of-its-kind, industry-led effort published in 2021. Developed by the Alliance for Action (AfA) on Sustainable Spaces, the guidelines focused on five priority areas: emission limits, Singapore standards, certification, workplace safety, and monitoring.
The Global Pledge for Healthy Indoor Air reinforces our commitment to good indoor air quality – because at the end of the day, the buildings we live in must be buildings we can live with.
