Singapore’s skyline is a testament to its rapid development, but it also represents a sustainability challenge.
While the city-state is on track to green 80% of all buildings by 2030, with 58% of our buildings already greened as of December 2023, many buildings still need to be greened. Furthermore, the buildings left to be worked on are on average 26 years old, presenting unique energy efficiency and sustainability challenges.
While it is true that the initial retrofitting costs for older buildings can be substantial, they often lead to significant long-term savings in maintenance and operational expenses. The financial landscape for such projects, too, has evolved favourably.
