First look at LEED v5

LEED v5 2

On 26 June 2026, SGBC gathered a full house of industry professionals at the Singapore Sustainability Academy for an in-depth exploration of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or LEED green building rating system, now updated to cover the latest LEED v5 standard.

Led by Ms. Farizan R., U.S. Green Building Council LEED Faculty and Senior Partner at SGBC Member GreenA Consultants, participants navigated the key shifts that LEED v5 introduces:

  • Decarbonisation – with 50% of credits now addressing carbon reduction
  • Quality of Life – embedding human impact and equity from the start
  • Ecological Conservation and Restoration – with stricter environmental prerequisites

Beyond the v5 framework, the course covered practical submission guidance, the use of LEED Online, as well as a detailed crosswalk between LEED and the BCA Green Mark scheme. The case studies of LEED-certified premises, including v5-ready projects, sparked rich discussions among attendees.
