SGBC wrapped up an insightful, full-house morning at Capital Tower on 3 June 2026 for the 𝘚𝘎𝘉𝘊 𝘐𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯: 𝘈𝘯 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘚𝘉𝘛𝘪 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘵 𝘌𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵. As Singapore accelerates toward its commitment of net-zero emissions by 2050, global capital flows are increasingly demanding credible, science-based decarbonisation pathways. Today’s session showed that the local built environment sector is ready to move past uncertainty and embrace informed, measurable action.
A huge thank you to the speaker, Ms Amanda Skeldon (Built Environment Engagement Specialist at the Science Based Targets initiative), for sharing her invaluable global expertise. Amanda expertly guided our attendees through:
- The foundational principles of the SBTi Corporate Net Zero Standard and the dedicated SME route.
- A deep dive into the SBTi Buildings Criteria, specifically breaking down Upfront Embodied Emissions and In-Use Operational Emissions targets.
- Practical navigation of the target validation process, common implementation challenges, and how to leverage complementary frameworks.
An interactive panel discussion and live Q&A session with Amanda, Ms Foo Peng Er from CapitaLand Investment, Ms Angela Pang from Climate Asia Pte Ltd Asia and Mr. Kew Yuan Chun from Frasers Property Singapore also highlighted a collective industry determination to tackle common target-setting hurdles head-on.
