The Singapore Green Building Council congratulates our Founding President Er. Lee Chuan Seng for receiving the President’s Science and Technology Medal, the top honour at the President’s Science and Technology Awards 2026.
The medal recognises the contributions of those who have shaped Singapore’s science and technology ecosystem, instead of just a single discovery or technology. As our first-ever president, Er. Lee put in place operational frameworks and organisational structure that were crucial for a budding industry organisation. Under his leadership, SGBC was able to fulfil its main thrusts back then: to connect with the international green building community and to create a sustainability certification scheme for products used in construction. The strong foundations set by Er. Lee has allowed the SGBC to grow from strength to strength over the years, expanding our coverage to the full building and construction value chain of products, services, professionals, buildings and building interiors.
