This afternoon, SGBC hosted a knowledge-sharing session with Sanmu (SG) Pte Ltd, themed Unlocking Best Practices for Electronically Commutated (EC) Fan Applications. While EC fans are widely recognised for their energy efficiency and variable-speed control, the session drove home a crucial point: their true potential is realised not at the spec sheet, but during installation, commissioning, and ongoing operations.
The key takeaway? Installation and commissioning are everything.
We dove deep into the common pitfalls that can derail even the best-designed systems. From verifying actual fan performance against design assumptions to the critical art of positioning pressure measurement points, the session was a masterclass in diagnostics.
We also tackled the “invisible” issues – troubleshooting wiring gremlins, control signal mismatches, and airflow anomalies that often plague existing installations.
A huge thank you to the Sanmu team for sharing such practical, hands-on solutions. For M&E engineers, consultants, and facility managers, these insights are essential for bridging the gap between theoretical efficiency and operational reality.
