The 3rd edition of the SGBC-OCBC Built Environment Decarbonisation Challenge is now open and we are seeking bold innovations to catalyse the transformation of Singapore’s built environment!
Building on the success and strong industry response towards the Challenge calls in 2024 and 2025, the 2026 edition of the Challenge seeks to uncover the next wave of high‑impact, deployment‑ready, and scalable solutions that can accelerate the shift towards a low‑carbon future.
Organised by the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) in collaboration with OCBC, the challenge invites innovators, solution providers and organisations with forward-looking technologies to contribute to Singapore’s decarbonisation momentum.
Why This Challenge Matters
Buildings account for 20 percent of Singapore’s carbon emissions, placing the built environment at the centre of our decarbonisation efforts. While equipment upgrades and operational optimisation have delivered improvements over the years, these conventional measures are approaching their limits in unlocking further carbon reductions.
To drive the next leap in progress, we need transformative ideas, breakthrough technologies, and innovative deployment approaches that can redefine what energy efficiency looks like in existing buildings. The Challenge aims to surface solutions that can not only cut emissions meaningfully but also catalyse sector wide adoption.
Challenge Statement: How can we fast-track the decarbonisation of our buildings?
For this edition, we are seeking solutions that:
- Deliver substantial and demonstrable energy savings
- Are easy to deploy with minimal disruption to building occupants and operations
- Can be scaled and replicated across diverse commercial office building types
Solutions should:
- Prioritise energy efficiency and carbon abatement
- Demonstrate economic practicality and deployment feasibility
- Tailor to specific building profiles that will be shared during the information session
Eligible solutions can be a product or a service and may include (but are not limited to):
- Energy-efficient technologies
- Advanced building operations or optimisation systems
- Retrofit-friendly innovations
- Scalable digital, hardware, or hybrid approaches
Who Can Participate?
The Challenge is open to companies passionate about decarbonisation, energy efficiency and sustainability in the built environment.
Shortlisted participants will gain opportunities to:
- Pilot your solution in a live environment at selected OCBC properties
- Demonstrate real-world energy savings
- Engage industry leaders across sustainability, engineering, and finance
- Accelerate market adoption of your innovation
- Contribute to a scalable decarbonisation model for commercial buildingsreducing carbon emissions in buildings, paving the way to a greener future.
Shortlisted solutions stand to receive funding support for pilot project implementations at selected OCBC properties.
How to Participate?
Submit your Expression of Interest through the online form below by 21 April 2026.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to provide further details on your solutions in the next stage. SGBC will progressively contact applicants on next steps from 21 April 2026 onwards.
