After five remarkable days, Indoor Air 2026 has officially drawn to a close – but the conversations, connections, and commitments forged here will reverberate far beyond the conference halls.
Over the past five days, close to 1000 delegates across 47 countries gathered at the Singapore Management University to exchange ideas, share discoveries, and strengthen collaborations. The theme, “𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐱𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬: 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞” guided every session, every conversation, and every moment of this landmark event for indoor air.
Indoor Air 2026’s Closing Ceremony began with well-deserved recognition of outstanding research contributions. We celebrated:
- 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 – recognising exceptional scientific contributions across diverse topics including indoor smellscapes, climate change impacts on phthalates exposure, thermal resilience under extreme heatwaves, high-efficiency VRF systems for humid regions, thermal responses of older people with dementia, and AI-driven thermal comfort assessment.
- 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 – honouring excellence in poster presentations that demonstrated scientific rigour, innovation, and meaningful contributions to the field of indoor air quality and healthy buildings.
- 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 – presented to our youngest ever Indoor Air 2026 conference delegate at just 11 years old, whose poster submission was accepted for presentation. A reminder that the future of IAQ is in bright, capable hands.
Indoor Air 2026 Conference Vice Presidents (Technical) Prof. Chandra Sekhar and Prof. David Cheong shared insights on the rigorous selection process, while Conference President Prof. Tham Kwok Wai delivered a heartfelt summary of the conference’s highlights and achievements.
One of the most meaningful traditions of the Indoor Air conference series is the ceremonial handover from the current host to the next. As the Conference President for Indoor Air 2028, Prof. Gabriel Bekö (DTU) joined Prof. Tham Kwok Wai on stage to officially receive the Indoor Air Urn – a symbolic moment that connects the past, present, and future of this global community.
From the organising committee to every speaker, delegate, and sponsor – thank you for making Indoor Air 2026 a resounding success.
The air we share connects us all, and the work we do together – across borders, disciplines, and generations – ensures that the buildings we live in are buildings we can truly live with.
Indoor Air 2026 has come to a close – but the work continues. We look forward to seeing you again at the next Indoor Air event. Wishing everyone safe travels as you make your way home!
