Buildings account for 20 percent of Singapore’s carbon emissions, positioning them as a critical focus area for national climate ambitions. They present substantial potential for cutting energy use, enhancing efficiency, and strengthening climate resilience.
While the built environment sector continues to drive energy efficiency in buildings through equipment upgrades and operational improvements, more conventional approaches are nearing their limits.
On 15 April 2025, SGBC organised the Pitch Day for the SGBC-OCBC Built Environment Decarbonisation Challenge 2nd Edition, in partnership with SGBC Member OCBC. Our panel of industry experts heard from a lineup of built environment innovations, shortlisted from a pool of 60 submissions. The representatives extensively described the value their solutions can bring to the table, highlighting energy savings, carbon emissions reduction as well as scalability.
