As demand for data continues to surge, data centres will remain pivotal in shaping the future of the digital economy. However, the rapid expansion of data centres has also raised concerns about energy consumption and environmental impact, prompting innovations in sustainability, such as renewable energy integration and advanced cooling technologies.
SGBC organised this afternoon a Lunch & Learn with SGBC Member ebm-papst SEA to draw a bead on the latter, exploring sustainable air-cooling solutions that enhance efficiency and minimise environmental impact in data centres. With a focus on Electronic Commutation (EC) technology, more than 40 Green Mark Professionals and SGBC Member representatives heard from ebm-papst’s technical experts on how EC motors and fans can help to optimise energy usage and operational costs in data centres and other building typologies. The session also delved into the role of Active Power Factor Correction in mitigating harmonics and lowering installation costs for the power supply.
