Designing for Natural & Mixed-Mode Ventilation in Buildings

The Draft Design Guide for Epidemic-Resilient Natural and Mixed-Mode Ventilation Systems for Buildings was published in January 2025 as a general guide for approaching natural ventilation and mixed-mode ventilation systems for buildings.

On 21 Feb. 2025, more than 500 industry professionals tuned in to a SGBC Webinar on Designing for Natural & Mixed-Mode Ventilation in Buildings, held in collaboration with the Building and Construction Authority, SJ Group, Atelier Ten and the National University of Singapore.

The Design Guide provides a practical, step-by-step framework for creating healthier, more resilient, and energy-efficient spaces in tropical climates like Singapore, and focuses on optimising ventilation through natural and mixed-mode strategies to reduce reliance on energy-intensive ACMV systems. The Guide was unpacked in great detail during the session, equipping industry professionals with valuable knowledge to meet evolving ventilation standards through a walkthrough of usage principles complemented with step-by-step examples.
